Village Halloween Parade 2026:Route, Times and Getting There by Private Car
New York’s 53rd Village Halloween Parade marches up Sixth Avenue on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Here is the route, the times, how to join in costume, where to watch, and how to plan a drop-off and pickup for Halloween night in Manhattan.
Date, time and route
The parade steps off at 7 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue, and travels north on Sixth Avenue to 15th Street. Time Out New York reports it is expected to run until about 11 PM. This year’s theme is “Body & Soul”, with giant puppets, more than 50 bands, dancers and thousands of New Yorkers in costume.
How to march in costume
Anyone in costume can march for free. According to Time Out, you enter the lineup at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue between 6:30 PM and 9 PM, and marchers are released in timed groups. A costume is required to join; spectators in street clothes cannot enter the route.
Where to watch
Watching is free. Spectators line Sixth Avenue between King Street and West 15th Street, and the stretch from Bleecker Street to 14th Street is usually the most crowded. Arrive early for a spot near the barricades. If you would rather watch from home or a party, Spectrum News NY1 carries the parade live from 8 PM.
Getting there and drop-off points
Sixth Avenue is closed to traffic along the route on parade night, and the side streets in Greenwich Village and SoHo fill with people. Cars cannot drop you on the route itself. The easiest drop-off and pickup points are a few blocks away, east or west of Sixth Avenue, chosen on the night based on closures. Agree on a pickup corner before you get out and text your chauffeur when you start walking back, so you are not searching for a taxi or ride-share in the crowd.
Halloween night is one of the busiest nights of the year for ride-share apps in Manhattan, and surge pricing and long waits are common after the parade ends. A pre-booked car with a confirmed pickup time avoids both.
Halloween parties and a night out
Many groups combine the parade with a Halloween party, dinner or a club night. With an hourly chauffeur, your car stays with you for the whole evening: drop-off near the parade, a ride to the party, and a safe ride home at the end of the night. For larger groups, a Sprinter van keeps everyone together, costumes and all.
Coming from Long Island or New Jersey
If you are coming in from Long Island or New Jersey, a private car means no late train home in costume and no parking garage near the Village. Leave extra time on Saturday evening, because Manhattan traffic builds before the parade, and book your return pickup in advance.
After Halloween: the holiday season
The parade kicks off New York’s holiday season. Next up are the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 26, holiday lights from late November, and holiday party season in December. See our Christmas lights tour for a private evening tour.
