US Open Transportation Guide: Getting to Flushing Meadows

The US Open brings some of the biggest crowds of the year to Queens. Here is how to plan your ride so you arrive relaxed and leave without the wait.

Where the US Open is

The US Open is played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in Queens, next to Citi Field and close to LaGuardia Airport.

Traffic on match days

The Grand Central Parkway and the roads around the park back up on match days, especially around the start of evening sessions and when crowds leave. A private chauffeur plans your pickup and drop-off around the schedule and the closest access point.

Options for getting there

• Private car: door-to-door from Manhattan, Long Island or the airports, with a planned return pickup.
• Public transit: the 7 train and Long Island Rail Road serve the area but are very crowded on peak days.
• Driving yourself: parking is limited and fills quickly.

Arrival timing tips

• Plan to arrive before the first match rather than at the start of the evening session, when traffic peaks.
• Agree a drop-off point close to your gate and a clear pickup point and time.
• Allow extra time if you are coming from Long Island or the North Shore, where the Cross Island Parkway and Grand Central Parkway can slow down.

Group and corporate planning

For corporate hospitality, plan one lead contact, share the pickup schedule with all guests and choose vehicles sized to the group. Multiple vehicles can leave together and return together, which keeps the day simple.

Combining the Open with the airport

LaGuardia is only a few minutes from the tennis center, so many out-of-town guests fly in and go straight to the grounds. If that is your plan, give us your flight number and we will time the pickup around your actual arrival and the match schedule.

Understanding the grounds

The US Open is spread across a large complex in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, with several show courts and many outer courts. Arthur Ashe Stadium is the main venue, and the grounds have multiple entrances. Where you are dropped off and where you sit can make a big difference in walking time, so check your ticket and ask your chauffeur to plan the closest practical entrance.

Day sessions and night sessions

The tournament runs day and evening sessions. Day sessions start in the late morning, and evening sessions begin later in the day. Crowds and traffic peak as sessions start and finish, so plan to arrive before an evening session begins and to wait a few minutes after it ends if you want a calmer exit.

Premium and corporate hospitality

Corporate guests often have hospitality tickets with specific entrances and schedules. Share your credentials and timing with your chauffeur so pickups and drop-offs match the hospitality plan, and ask your host whether special entrances or drop-off areas apply.

Heat, sun and comfort

The tournament falls in late summer, when the grounds can be hot and sunny. Bring sun protection, water and comfortable shoes, and expect to walk between courts. A private car with air conditioning is a comfortable start and finish to a long day.

Planning your return

Set a pickup time and meeting point before you go in, and save your chauffeur’s number. If you are staying for the end of a late match, let us know so we can adjust the pickup. For guests with flights, we monitor arrivals into LaGuardia and JFK and time the transfers around the schedule.

From Long Island and the boroughs

Guests from Long Island often use the Cross Island Parkway and Grand Central Parkway, while guests from Manhattan cross the Queensboro Bridge or use the Midtown Tunnel. Tickets and credentials

Make sure your tickets or credentials are on your phone or printed before you leave, and check which gate they use. Some tickets are tied to specific entrances, so tell your chauffeur the gate and we plan the drop-off accordingly.

Food, drink and hospitality

The grounds have food courts, restaurants and hospitality areas, and lines build around lunch and the dinner break. If you have a hospitality package, ask your host about arrival times and any separate entrance rules.

Weekday versus weekend crowds

Weekends and the final rounds draw the biggest crowds and heaviest traffic. Early-round weekdays are calmer, with easier drop-offs and shorter queues. If you have flexibility, choose a weekday for a more relaxed visit.

Return-trip strategies
