JFK Terminal Guide 2026:Airlines, Construction and Car Service Pickups
JFK is in the middle of a multibillion-dollar rebuild, and pickup rules now differ by terminal. Here is which airline uses which terminal this fall, how cars reach each one, and how a pre-booked car service pickup works during the construction.

Which JFK terminals are open in fall 2026
The Port Authority’s JFK site lists five operating terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 4, Terminal 5, Terminal 7 and Terminal 8. Two new terminals are under construction. New Terminal One, which will replace the old Terminal 1, has been delayed to the first quarter of 2027, according to The Points Guy. The new Terminal 6 is also being built; the Port Authority’s project page lists its first gates for 2026, and no airline is listed there on the official airline table yet. Check your boarding pass and the airline’s app before you leave, because airlines move as new gates open.
Airlines by terminal
- Terminal 1: Air France, Lufthansa, Korean Air, Turkish Airlines and SWISS, among others.
- Terminal 4: Delta, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, LATAM and Avianca, among others. JetBlue international flights arriving late at night can also land here.
- Terminal 5: JetBlue.
- Terminal 7: Aer Lingus, ANA, Icelandair, Norse, Condor and Kuwait Airways.
- Terminal 8: American Airlines, British Airways, Alaska, Qatar Airways and Iberia, among others.

How cars reach each terminal
Terminals 1 and 4 are reached from the Van Wyck Expressway, and Terminals 5, 7 and 8 from the JFK Expressway. The airport warns that construction detours and lane closures continue through 2026, so roads inside the airport can look different from one trip to the next. A chauffeur who drives JFK every day knows the current exits and avoids the circling that costs travelers time.
Pickups during construction: what changed
The biggest change for arriving travelers is where cars may pick up:
- Terminals 5 and 7: pickups for ride apps and car services moved to a lot at the Howard Beach AirTrain station. You ride the AirTrain there for free between terminals. Drop-offs at the curb are not affected. (JFK advisory)
- Terminal 4: ride-app and car-service pickups moved to Lot 66, with a free shuttle, under a 2025 Port Authority advisory that runs until further notice.
- Terminals 1 and 8: no pickup relocation is listed by the airport.
- Everywhere: the curb is for active pickups and drop-offs only. Cars cannot park or wait there and can be towed.
Because the rules differ by terminal and can change at short notice, MZ RIDE confirms your exact meeting point before you land, based on your terminal and flight. See what to expect at an airport chauffeur pickup for how meet-and-greet and curbside pickups differ.
Waiting lots for drivers
Drivers picking someone up use free waiting lots instead of circling. The Cell Phone Lot (East), near the JFK Expressway, is closest to Terminals 5, 7 and 8. The Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain lot is closest to Terminals 1 and 4. Drivers must stay with the vehicle in both. Our chauffeurs track your flight, so the car moves to the terminal when you are ready rather than when your flight was scheduled.
AirTrain JFK
AirTrain JFK runs between all terminals for free, with trains every few minutes. Leaving the airport at Jamaica or Howard Beach costs $8.75, according to the AirTrain page. You will use it for free if your pickup is at the Howard Beach lot.
Tips for a smooth JFK pickup
- Share your flight number when you book, not just the landing time.
- Message your chauffeur when you clear customs or collect your bags, not when you land.
- International arrivals add time for immigration and customs, especially at busy times, so there is no need to rush a message the moment you land.
- If you change terminals or flights, tell us right away so we can move the pickup.
