How far is the Hamptons from JFK?

The Hamptons stretch along the South Fork of Long Island, from Westhampton Beach in the west to Montauk at the eastern tip. Depending on the village and the traffic, the drive from JFK can take anywhere from about two hours to four hours or more. Southampton and Bridgehampton sit at the shorter end; East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk are farther.

Most trips use the Belt Parkway or Van Wyck Expressway to the Southern State Parkway or Long Island Expressway, then Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway (Route 27) through the villages. Sunday evening is the busiest window heading west. If you have to be back in the city at a set time, book the return when you book the outbound trip and leave earlier than feels necessary. A Monday morning departure is usually far easier, and we can plan both directions together.

Groceries, a lunch stop or a pickup at a second address are all possible. Mention them when you book so we allow the time, and any extra waiting is confirmed with you in advance.

Traveling with children, pets and larger groups

Families and groups have extra needs on a long drive. Tell us about car seats, boosters and pets when you book so the right vehicle arrives, and plan a short stop on the way for comfort breaks. Larger groups can travel in a van or in two vehicles that leave together.
